There is an optimal point of contact. There is an right level of focus.

Some times the correct perspective is of an issue is at the level of the details, the nitty-gritties. Here, every tree in the forest counts. If you are solving a pest infestation problem on your farm, you need to spray every branch and stem on every tree.

Other times, the correct perspective of an issue is at the level of the principles. Here, it is less about individual trees. If you are solving a problem around slow execution in your organization, you should probably focus on the 1 or 2 big things that account the most for throttling speed. This could be an overly complex approval process or an unnecessary maker-checker validation process which slows everything down.

The difficulty lies in knowing when to apply the right level of focus.
